Rutgers Capoeira Club
Capoeira (English cap-oh-ay-ra)) is a Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance and music. It was created in Brazil mainly by descendants of African Slaves with Brazilian native influences, probably beginning in the 16th century. It is known by quick and complex moves, using mainly power, speed, and leverage for leg sweeps. Our practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesdays: 9-11pm Thursdays: 9:30-11pm Location: College Avenue Upper Gym
Note: Practices at Rutgers facilities are for Rutgers students only. Outside visitors must contact us at least 24 hours ahead of time. Non-Rutgers students may attend the capoeira classes that are not affiliated with the University.
